Daepae Samgyeopsal was developed by CEO Paik Jong Won in 1993. After that, Daepae Samgyeopsal was applied for a trademark by the Korean Intellectual Property Office in 1996 and registered as a trademark under the Trademark Act in 1998. It’s just meat. But isn’t it amazing that it’s even registered as a trademark?
대패삼겹살은 1993년 백종원 대표가 개발했습니다. 그 이후에는 1996년 대패삼겹살이 특허청 상표 출원되었고 1998년에 상표법에 의한 상표로 등록되었습니다. 그냥 고기인데 상표까지 등록되었다는 것은 참 신기하지요?

CEO Paik Jong Won said that when the store opened in 1993, Daepae Samgyeopsal was born when he accidentally bought an inexpensive meat ware using ham in order to save money on the purchase of a meat-cutter machine. Daepae Samgyeopsal was named as such because of its thinly sliced and rolled-out shape, like wood shavings. It fastly became popular since it aroused consumer interest.

백종원 대표는 1993년 가게 오픈 당시 육절기를 구입에 돈을 아끼려고 실수로 햄을 써는 저렴한 육절기를 구입하면서 탄생하게 되었다고 합니다. 삼겹살을 얇게 썰어 돌돌 말려 나오는 모습이 마치 대패밥 같다 하여 이름을 붙인 대패삼겹살은 이후 소비자들의 흥미를 유발하며 인기를 끌었습니다.
