As an art lover, I enjoy creating things with my bare hands. I love the focus I put in, and the amount of attention and passion I place into making things. For me it feels like a therapy.

I love how Picasso puts it, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” – Pablo Picasso, it’s amazingly true.
No matter how much stressed or tiring my day was, an hour spent at the end on making art, reading about art, or even just looking at and appreciating art takes me to an entire different world, where everything is in harmony.

Living in South Korea for the past few years, what I’ve come to love most about this country is how things are portrayed artistically and the importance of art throughout #history from the old dynasties and meaningful paintings on the walls to the modern times art.

South Korea is known to be famous for different types of art; among them is the Rattan Art.

Now if you are not familiar with rattan art, Rattan is a kind of material that is used in wicker weaves and it’s naturally growing plant that is native to tropical regions of Australia, Asia, and Africa. The flexibility of the plant makes it easy for be used for handicraft and even furniture.
<My Basket>
Not so long ago, a friend of mine invited me to participate in a Rattan handicraft making in Chowol Rattan art studio in Gangnam. This was my first experience in rattan art so I was extremely happy to try something new.
We were given the choice to make any kind of basket, and I decided that I wanted to make a simple basket to put my painting brushes and acrylic colors at home.
It was such a healing experience and I loved every bit it.
So if you are interested to pay a visit or take an hour class in Chowol art studio, you can go to Gangnam station. The studio is just a few minutes walk from the station. 창조의 예술이란
저는 미술 애호가이고 맨손으로 물건을 만드는 것을 즐깁니다. 저는 제가 쏟은 집중력과 무언가를 만드는 데 쏟는 관심과 열정을 좋아합니다. 제게는 마치 치료처럼 느껴집니다.
저는 피카소가 "예술은 영혼으로부터 일상생활의 먼지를 씻어낸다"라고 표현한 것이 너무 좋아요.
아무리 스트레스를 많이 받거나 피곤한 하루였다 하더라도, 하루가 끝날 무렵에 한 시간은 예술을 만들고, 예술에 대해 읽고, 심지어 예술을 보고 감상하는 데까지 저를 완전히 다른 세상으로 데려갑니다. 모든 것이 조화를 이루고 있는 곳이죠.
지난 몇 년 동안 한국에 살면서 내가 이 나라에 대해 가장 사랑하게 된 것은 옛 왕조와 벽에 걸린 의미 있는 그림에서부터 현대 미술에 이르기까지 역사 전반에 걸쳐 사물이 예술적으로 묘사되는 방법과 예술의 중요성이다.
한국은 다른 종류의 예술로 유명한 것으로 알려져 있는데, 그중에는 라탄 예술이 있다.
라탄 예술에 익숙하지 않다면, 라탄은 고리버섯에 사용되는 일종의 재료이고 호주, 아시아, 아프리카의 열대지방에 자생하는 자연 재배 식물입니다. 그 식물의 유연성은 수공예품과 심지어 가구에도 사용하기 쉽게 한다.
얼마 전, 강남의 초월 라탄 미술 스튜디오에서 라탄 수공예 제작에 한 친구가 저를 초대했습니다. 라탄 미술에 대한 저의 첫 경험이었습니다. 자연스럽게, 저는 새로운 것을 시도하게 되어 감격했습니다.
우리는 어떤 종류의 바구니를 만들든 선택할 수 있었고, 저는 집에 제 그림 붓과 아크릴 색을 넣을 수 있는 간단한 바구니를 만들기로 결심했습니다.
