In Korea, roses bloom from mid-May to mid-June, and at that time of year, the most romantic flowers can be found almost everywhere in the country. The rose is a very important flower in Korean culture. Many events related to roses happen at this time of the year. For example, Korean couples, who have monthly couples’ days occurring on the 14th, celebrate Rose Day on May 14th. As you could guess from the name, on Rose Day, Korean boyfriends give roses to their girlfriends.

Many rose festivals take place in Korea every year. The most famous ones are the Seoul Rose Festival (서울 장미 축제) and Everland Rose Festival (에버랜드 장미 축제). Many parks create special rose gardens so that citizens can enjoy sightseeing of rose blooms, and one of the most famous rose gardens is the Rose Plaza in Seoul’s Olympic Park (올림픽공원 장미광장). In this mini park, you can find several hundred types of roses from all over the world. I would highly recommend this place to everyone for a weekend walk or a date because it is an ideal place to have a stroll and to relax while you are enjoying the tempting scent of roses.
